In my experience there are a few mistakes that designers make when it comes to designing websites for architects.
When beginning a Web Design for Architects, designers tend to feel they have to be fancy and over the top to match the creativity of their client. But I always stick to the philosophy that simple is always effective. The last thing you want to do is to confuse your audience with messy, confusing websites that are trying to be something they are not.
Always keep in mind what your website is trying to achieve. Are you trying to stump your audience and put them off working with you or are you trying to showcase your skills and impress them with your experience?
Keep the design, colours and layout all simple and keep the theme flowing throughout the whole of your website. Be selective over what your website contains. Obviously you will need to have all of your contact details and information easily accessible but what else you put on your site needs to be carefully chosen. Does your audience need to see every piece of work you’ve ever done over the last 20 years? Probably not, but they would like to see a handful of your most recent designs to get an idea of what your work is like.
I always recommend updating your website every few weeks with your latest designs and most recent work as this keeps your site fresh and stops it staying static for months on end. It gives your clients a reason to come back and check on the updates on your site.
