Working as a freelance website designer means it can sometimes be beneficial to me and my work to go back and look over my job description from time to time. As I work for myself and not for a big company, it can really help to just remind myself of what I should and shouldn’t be doing for my customers.
Below is one description I read over to remind me of what my job entails:
A web designer is responsible for the design, layout and coding of a website and is involved in the technicalities of making a website work. A web designer will also usually offer their clients the option of ongoing updates and maintenance of their site.
After talking to the client and establishing what they want a website for, who they want the website for and what the ultimate goal of the website is, the web designer will then get to work on the design. They will write the programming code, test the website to identify any problems with how the website functions and then upload it to a server.
A good website designer will be creative and imaginative, have skills in software programming, be great at communicating with their customers and be interested in keeping up to date with the latest advances in computer technology. They should be good at problem solving and have an eye for colour and design.
