Let’s face it, we all like to let our hair down at some point. And more often than not, this letting down of hair involves having a drink or two…or ten. We never plan to wake up in the morning feeling like we’ve woken up on our death bed, but it’s one of those facts of life. Or as some would put it; Nature’s way of punishing us!
Whatever you think about hangovers, I don’t think anyone would turn down the knowledge of a few ‘Hangover Cures’. These are by no means tried and tested, but this is what I have found out:
There is no such thing as a ‘Hangover Cure’
OK, so I’ve led you up the garden path with the title. Truth is, there is no ‘cure’ for a hangover. But there are a few ways to avoid one:
- Pasta Have a meal before you start drinking, any meal. Although carbohydrates such as pasta help slow down alcohol consumption.
- Water This is common knowledge. Alcohol dehydrates the body and drinking a glass of water in between each alcoholic drink will help avoid a nasty morning after.
- Pint No, silly! Not a pint of beer! Drink a pint of water before you go to bed to give you the best chance of avoiding that nasty headache the next day. Keep another one on your bedside to sip during the night too!
- Don’t believe the ‘Hair of the Dog’ We’ve all heard someone mention it, but the truth is you are probably just delaying the affects of the hangover by following this silly ‘advice’.
Don’t thank me, it’s what the doctors recommend!
